Reset password in WAMP server

Go to Command Prompt
C:\wamp\bin\mysql\mysql5.0.51b\bin
[To find the proper folder, go into your wamp folder using Windows Explorer, click “bin”, “mysql”, then find where the other “bin” folder is under that.]
In the command promt type :
mysqladmin -u root password NEWPASSWORD
where NEWPASSWORD is the new password.

you are a genious. an error occurred with my Mysql while changing the root password and i could not log in. i googled for half an hour and found nothing helpful to change my password. this worked. good job!!!!!!

Awesome tip, thank you! This, I am sure will come in handy when I accidentally lock myself out. I’ve gone through this process but the cmd message is ‘…failed error: ‘Access denied for user ‘root’@’localhost’ (using password: NO)’

Check the status of your mysql service (or wampmysqld service if your running wamp)
Make sure you have an admin cmd line.
reboot and try again?

Nice post. I was never able to get this method to work for resetting WAMP password, but I’ve seen in other forums it has worked for lots of people.
Feel free to check out my blog when you get a chance. I’ve only just starting writing posts, but I’ve got a lot of ideas now being a web developer in the daytime :0)
