[To find the proper folder, go into your wamp folder using Windows Explorer, click “bin”, “mysql”, then find where the other “bin” folder is under that.]

In the command promt type :

  2. Awesome tip, thank you! This, I am sure will come in handy when I accidentally lock myself out. Here is a great and simple tutorial on how to change the root user’s password in Wamp on Windows based machines if anyone is interested: http://www.itutorblog.com/2011/06/how-to-change-root-password-on-wamp/

I’ve gone through this process but the cmd message is ‘…failed error: ‘Access denied for user ‘root’@’localhost’ (using password: NO)’

    What now?

Check the status of your mysql service (or wampmysqld service if your running wamp)
Make sure you have an admin cmd line.
      reboot and try again?

      Hope it helps.

Nice post. I was never able to get this method to work for resetting WAMP password, but I’ve seen in other forums it has worked for lots of people.

Feel free to check out my blog when you get a chance. I’ve only just starting writing posts, but I’ve got a lot of ideas now being a web developer in the daytime :0)
